Me Before You by Jojo Moyes ♡♡♡♡♡

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes was, and I don't say this lightly, probably the best book I've read all year, if not the best book I've read since Easy by Tammara Weber. I wasn't going to review this book initially, because it has already been so popular, but then I loved it so much, I thought I would let people who may be on the fence know, it's worth it!

Me Before You tells the story of Lou, who gets a job taking care of quadriplegic named Will. It is probably the slowest building love story, and I loved every second of it.

One of the reasons I love this story is that it's not just a love story, but it also explored some very serious moral implications and life choices. I picked this book up because I wanted to read it before I saw the movie, but I am so glad I read it. It was a beautifully written, heart wrenching story.

Sweet by Tammara Webber ♡♡♡♡.5

Sweet by Tammara Webber is the third book in the Contours of the Heart series (but can be read as a standalone). Tammara Webber is the first New Adult author I ever read, so I was excited to see a new book out from her. I held off reading it because the book description did not look that appealing to me, but I knew I couldn't hold out forever. And it turned out to be much better than than I expected.

Sweet tells the story of Boyce and Pearl. They have known each other since they were children, but their lives took different paths. Both have liked each other always, but neither thought anything could ever happen.

This story was a slow build up with lots of flashbacks. I think those flashbacks add a lot to the story and slow down the pacing, which was perfect. I loved the characters, their story, and the way they come together slow and apprehensive. The story takes place in Texas (debatable for some on whether it is part of the south, most of us southerners consider Texas its own entity), and the slow pace of the story give it a real southern feel. And, as always, I love a happily ever after.

After Math by Denise Grover Swank ♥♥

I’m having some mixed feelings about After Math Denise Grover Swank. From the first page I was skeptical. The story started almost exactly the same way as Wait for You by J. Lynn. So, I couldn’t continue reading until I figured out why it felt so familiar. The story lines are even pretty similar (shy girls and popular player fall for each other). After I figured that out, there was something else that felt familiar. The tutor storyline threw me off in that is was fairly similar to Easy by Tammara Webber. The guy in After Math, Tucker, even has a secret like Lucas in Easy.

But After Math is the story of Scarlett, a shy, anxious math major who is forced unto tutoring womanizing, star soccer player, Tucker. They fall for each other, but Tucker’s secrets and past pull them apart. They have to decide if they will allow their pasts to keep them apart.

I was able to get past the similarities to two of my favorite books, but in the end, I didn’t really enjoy the story. Tucker would switch from being fairly nice and sleep to furious, and what seemed like boarder line violent. And Scarlett is so enthralled she looks past it, always saying she’s not worried about herself physically. Although, that obviously means the thought crosses her mind that she may need to worry. Then, in the end, Tucker seems normal and sweet again. The book should have dealt with his anger issues in some way.

I’m not sure I’ll be reading any more of this series (unfortunately, I bought the second book when I bought the first). But maybe the rest will be less familiar and won’t have boys who feel as if they fall on the wrong side of dangerous.

Breakable by Tammara Webber ♥♥♥♥♥

So, I don’t have much to say about Tammara Webber’s Breakable other than it was amazing. First, you should read Easy, because I can’t imagine reading the books the other way around. The books can each stand alone and would make sense on their own, but I think you would get more out of it reading Easy and then Breakable. For those that don’t know Easy is the story from Jacqueline’s perspective and Breakable is from Lucas’s perspective. But read  them any way you want.

Breakable is so different from Easy, which I don’t feel we normally get from a book that is a sequel of sorts, but mostly just a POV change. We don’t only get to see the story we got from Jacqueline in the previous book, we get to see what Lucas was like growing up, and what he really went through after losing his mom. Even though that part of the story was so heart wrenching, it was great to see what makes Lucas into who he’s become, which is a pretty great guy. I really enjoyed the way his past and his present were interwoven into the story as opposed to showing a before and after of his life. It made the story much more interesting.

If you’ve read Easy then you’re going to want to read Breakable. If you haven’t, then you should read them both. For the sake of those who haven’t read Easy, I tried really hard not to give too much of the story away. But both are amazing love stories, and you will enjoy spending your time with the very complicated Lucas.
