Beautiful Sacrifice by Jamie McGuire ♡♡♡♡.5

Beautiful Sacrifice by Jamie McGuire is the third book in the Maddox Brothers series, which does not include Beautiful Disaster or Walking Disaster. If you are new to new adult, I recommend starting with Beautiful Disaster.

Beautiful Sacrifice tells the story of Taylor and Fayln. Fayln is trying to reconcile her past when Taylor Maddox walks into her life, and he's just what she needs. But Taylor's got it bad. And if you know one Maddox brother, you know they won't stop chasing a girl once they decide she's it for them.

I was extremely wary of Beautiful Sacrifice, because I did not enjoy Thomas's story Beautiful Redemption (I think he was a little too old, and I was expecting a new adult book, it felt more like a contemporary romance). But this book had almost all the magic and love that had me falling for those damn Maddox boys in the first place. This story was more somber than the others, and I did more crying than laughing, but it was worth every tear to witness Taylor and Fayln's story.

You could read this without reading any of the other books, but I would say read them all. Especially Beautiful Disaster. It's my favorite!

Getting Lucky Number Seven by Cindi Madsen ♡♡♡♡

Getting Lucky Number Seven by Cindi Madsen was the first book I have read by this author. I bought the book quite a bit ago and it has been sitting on my Nook ever since.

Getting Lucky Number Seven tells the story of Lyla and Beck. Lyla is a studious slightly reserved person and Beck is a hockey playing lady's man, and they became best friends after a semester of being lab partners. But when Lyla decides she needs to get some of the usual college experiences, she makes a list of things to do and number seven is to have mind blowing sex.

As Lyla starts to blossom, Beck is determined to help Lyla with number seven, but it has to be no strings attached so they can maintain their friendship. And of course, it doesn't exactly go according to plan.

This was a great story, and I loved pretty much everything except the big gesture at the end of the book. It was a little too much of a romance movie cliche.

Reading this book right after All Played Out may not have been a great idea. The premise to both books were very similar, and the main characters shared many things in common. I never got the two stories confused, but I found myself comparing them often.

Overall, a good book that I would recommend.

There You Stand by Christina Lee ♡♡♡.5

There You Stand by Christina Lee is the 5th book in the Between Breaths series, and in this story we get to know tattoo artist Cory better, and we meet the mysterious Jude. This is a M/M book, so if you're not ready to read that then this book is not for you.

We met Cory in previous books since he works at RawInk, but Jude is new to us, and he's a mystery to Cory. Cory doesn't think Jude could ever be interested in him, and he's had his heart broken before. But it turns out Jude likes Cory, but Jude has to keep so much of himself hidden, that Cory's not sure if Jude is worth all the work he has to put in.

We watch Jude open up to Cory, and we see Cory deal with the horrible details of Jude's past.

I really enjoyed getting to know these two characters. But I didn't feel much of a connection to either one of them. I'm not sure why, but there was something missing for me. More tension, maybe?

But the story was beautifully written, and I love a good story whether I feel the connection or not. I can't wait to read more of the series.

Stupid Girl by Cindy Miles ♡♡♡.5

Stupid Girl by Cindy Miles is the first book I've read by this author. I came across it on Goodreads, and I love a good story about a player changing his ways. So, I decided to give it a shot.

Stupid Girl is the story of Olivia, a Texas girl with a murky past, and Brax, the school bad boy who wears his bad ass persona on his sleeve. They fall for each other pretty hard, and have to work through their pasts of they want to stay together.

I loved loved loved the story. It was a great premise, and I really felt for the characters. For, possibly, the first time ever, I loved a book where I felt the writing could have been so much stronger. There were words that were repeated, and there were some spots where the writing felt awkward. I have never loved a story so much and felt so "eh" about the writing.

I want to read more by Cindy Miles, especially the next book in this series, Stupid Boy. And I am hoping the writing gets better with time.

Eversea by Natasha Boyd ♡♡♡

Eversea by Natasha Boyd is a book I first saw when it was on sale through BookBub. I picked up the book because of the compelling premise. I like stories about a famous person going to a small town and falling for someone who lives there.

That is exactly what happens in Eversea. Kerri Ann lives in a small town as a waitress working to help restore her family home. Jack, a famous actor, comes to town and falls for her immediately. They have quite the tumultuous time of things.

I enjoyed watching Kerri Ann try and figure out who she was and what she wanted for her life, and whether that life can include Jack.

This was a gripping story that kept me reading. I wanted to know what was going to happen, and what decisions Kerri Ann would make. I also loved the genuine Southern setting. Natasha Boyd really captures what it's like to live in the South. And I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I bought it as soon as I finished the first.

Promise Me This by Christina Lee ♥♥♥.5

Promise Me This by Christina Lee is the fourth book in the Between Breaths series, a series which I have really enjoyed. There will be no spoilers in this review, but the books should be read in order, because you see other characters from previous books, but if you really wanted to you could read this as a stand-alone since there isn’t much crossover.

Promise Me This tells Nate and Jessie’s story. Jessie is tattooed, blue haired, and can’t afford to go to school full time. Nate is clean cut and has everything in his life paid for by his family. The two of them seem pretty different, and are having a hard time fighting their sudden feeling for each other. To make matters worse, Nate has a troubled past, making it difficult for him to get close to anyone, no matter how much he wants to. But Jessie is willing to wait him out.

Like the other books in the series, I really enjoyed reading this. Watching Nate and Jessie struggle with their feelings turned out to be a really great story. And we also watch Nate deal with plenty of family problems.

This book did feel different than the others. Sex took more of a front seat in the story, and there was much more sexual tension and talk about sex than the previous books. It was part of the story line so I thought it made sense that sex played more of a role. I didn’t dislike it, but I didn’t love it either.

This story was a real page turner; I stayed up all night reading it. Read the whole series, and then read Promise Me This. Let me know what you think!

Draw Me In by Regina Cole is a book I found while browsing NetGalley. There were some things I loved about this story, and some not so much.

Draw Me In tells the story of Hailey and Neill. Hailey is having trouble with school and her family. She desperately needs a job, and she finds one at a tattoo parlor. She meets Neill, who also happens to be her new boss. They’re attracted to each other, but Neill has a past that is holding him back from letting Hailey in.

Let’s start with the things I didn’t enjoy; then we can end on a good note! We got the story from the point of view of both Neill and Hailey. It would have been better to have to the story told from one character, preferably Hailey. The point of view changes made the timeline of the story more difficult to follow. And it was more difficult getting to know the characters. There were also much less surprises.

But I did enjoy the characters; they seemed really genuine, like people you might know. Also I liked the premise of the story. The plot was great, and what can I say, I’m a sucker for those tattooed boys.

Beautiful Oblivion by Jamie McGuire ♥♥♥♥.75

I have to admit, I was a bit apprehensive about Beautiful Oblivion by Jamie McGuire. I love love love Travis Maddox and Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster. I thought there was no way Trent and Cami’s story could be anywhere close to as amazing and Travis and Abby’s. I was so wrong, very happy, but still so wrong.

Cami already has a boyfriend, T.J., when the story starts. But she and Trent have known each other since they were kids. They’ve never been particularly good friends. , but all of a sudden Trent is spending all his free time with Cami, as friends, even though it’s obvious they both want more. And Cami can’t decide what to do about her situation.

I can’t say much without ruining something (particularly Cami’s decision). But this book surpassed everything I thought it would be. The story felt real on so many different levels. It was full of drama and secrets. And fully packed with love. Those Maddox boys know how to do love, and they do it in the biggest way possible. Is there somewhere I can get one for myself?

You don’t need to read Beautiful Disaster first, but I recommend that you do. The big secret at the end if this book really knocked me on my ass; I didn’t see it coming. But I feel like I should have. Those Maddox boys are the best kind of trouble. The secret left me with so many questions, and questioning a few different people. So read the book, and be prepared to fall in love with another Maddox.
