Riot by Jamie Shaw ♡♡♡♡♡ Go Read it Right Now!!!

With the holiday season upon us, especially with Thanksgiving this week, I wanted to talk a little bit about the things I’m thankful for. In particular, I want to talk about Jamie Shaw, author extraordinaire!

I am part of Jamie’s Facebook group, Jamie’s Rock Stars, and this week she talked about how not many people read the second book in her Mayhem series, Riot. I was shocked! It was my favorite book of the series! So, this week, in light of the holidays (and a super busy schedule) I am reposting my review of Riot. If you you have not read this series, then you should, but don’t skip over Riot. It was the most emotional, heart wrenching, wonderful book in the series. Just talking about it makes me want to read it again! Maybe I will avoid all responsibility for this week and dive back into the the world of Mayhem :)

Riot  by Jamie Shaw ♡♡♡♡♡

Riot by Jamie Shaw is the second book in the Mayhem series. If you haven’t read Mayhem, then you need to as soon as possible, because these books are amazing. Thank you Jay Crownover for suggesting them.

We met Joel and Dee in Mayhem, and now we are getting their full story in Riot. Joel and Dee are all about hooking up with who they want when they want. When they start hooking up with each other, they seem to be with only each other. They like each other, but neither wants to take the next step, until one of them does.

I can hardly put into words how much I enjoyed Riot. The story was amazing. I loved the premise. And now I want a Joel of my own. I laughed and cried right along with the characters. The sign of the best books is when you can literally feel what the characters are feeling. That’s what I look for in books, and Jamie Shaw knows how to deliver.

You should read the Mayhem series as soon as you can. You are going to fall in love with these guys. And you are going to wish the girls were your best friends.

Like I said, it was an amazing book, now stop what you're doing and go read!

Chaos by Jamie Shaw ♡♡♡♡.5

Chaos by Jamie Shaw is the third book in the Mayhem series. I have been waiting for this book since Riot came out, and I am disappointed that there is only one band member left to go after this. But, as always, this book had me up all night reading as I laughed and cried along with the characters.

Chaos tells the story of the newest member of Last Ones to Know, Kit. She has a past with Shawn that he can't seem to remember, and she can't seem to forget. Going on tour together is full of tension, and we watch the two come together and fall apart.

I loved this story! Kit is a great character, exactly who I wanted to be during my emo days (I still love the music, but no longer dress the part). She's funny, smart, and so strong. Joel, from Riot, is still my favorite, but getting to know Shawn better was awesome. He's made some mistakes in the past, but he's trying to make up for them now.

Words hardly seem enough to say how much I love this book and series. I am so ready for Mike's story, and not at all ready to part with this band. Jamie Shaw's books capture your attention from the very beginning, and I didn't want to stop until I knew how everything would end.

If you enjoy new adult books, you should read this series, and get ready to fall in love!

Relentless by Cassia Leo ♥♥♥.75

Relentless is the first book in the Shattered Hearts series by Cassia Leo. If you’re looking for a good, short read this could be the right book for you. But don’t think there won’t be any punch to the story just because it’s short. You’re in for a few surprises with this one.

Claire dropped out of college due to a secret she doesn’t want anyone to know about, least of all her hot new neighbor, Adam. As she and Adam grow close Claire worries about not only the secrets between them, but her first love, Chris.  Not only did Chris break her heart, but with his rise to fame there aren’t many ways to avoid him. Everything comes to a head when Chris comes back into her life, and her secret is revealed to both Adam and Chis.

There were a few things I didn’t enjoy about the book. I’ll get that out of the way so I can get to the good stuff. Something small, but bothersome, was the chapter titles. They all had the book title, Relentless, in them, it was a bit distracting. I think numbers would have been better. The other thing I thought was off putting were the links in the e-book (if you can get this in paper form, I doubt the links are there). It pulled me out of the story, and made me feel I needed too much guidance from the author. The links actually made me think of ditching the book. I’m glad I didn’t though.

The book had real heart. Even though the story didn’t take place at college, it still felt like a New Adult book given that Claire is trying to figure out who she is. She’s had a difficult life and has dealt with it so well. It was great to see a book with real life struggles with no good answer as to what’s best for the people in Claire’s life.

It was beautiful to watch Claire and Adam come to trust each other, and how they handled Chris walking into their lives. I’m glad to have read this book, and I’m looking forward to reading more by Cassia Leo.
