Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout ♡♡♡♡.5

Wicked (A Wicked Saga, #1)Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout was so much better than I could have expected. I have been reading her books for some time now, and I have enjoyed them in the past, but as a reader, I am skeptical of authors going from realistic to paranormal, mostly because I love paranormal and don't read many authors who do both. But I have to say Wicked changed my mind.

Wicked is kind of a difficult book to explain without telling you everything about the world it's set in. But the gist of it is that in this book fairies are evil, and Ivy, our heroine, is part of a secret society, the Order, who are responsible for finding and killing them. Enter Ren, the new guy from Colorado, who Ivy is charged with showing around New Orleans. There is all kinds of story and secrets between them.

More importantly, the equinox is approaching, which is going to cause problems for the Order. Ivy and Ren are trying to figure out things between them, and figure out how to keep more fairies from getting into our world.

This had to be one of my favorite books so far this year. I am so happy to see more paranormal books making their way into new adult, and this one did a great job setting up a world within our own. But it still had that great coming of age love story. And it ended on a huge cliffhanger,  and now we have to wait until summer for the next book, Torn!

Inspire by Cora Carmack ♥♥♥

Inspire (The Muse, #1)Inspire by Cora Carmack is her first paranormal new adult book. I have really enjoyed many of her past books, and this book was no different.

This book tells the story of muse Kalli. She has spent thousands of years inspiring artists. But she falls for a business guy, Wilder, who, it turns out, is actually an artist too.

Kalli doesn't know how to handle the fact that Wilder is an artist, or her immortality in the face of her desire to be with Wilder.

I really enjoyed getting both sides of the story from Wilder and Kalli. And the story itself was great. I didn't realize until the end of the book that it would be part of a series that focused on the same characters, so I didn't think we get to know Kalli very well. I just didn't feel connected to her as a character because so much of her was a mystery. But I'm hoping as the series continues, we will get to know her better.

I am very interested to see where this story is going and getting to know Kalli and Wilder better. And it's always nice to see more paranormal NA. Has anyone else read this yet? What did you think?

Dark Sacrifice by Angie Sandro ♥♥♥♥.5

Dark SacrificeLet me start by saying Dark Sacrifice by Angie Sandro was pretty amazing. She really seems to have found herself as a writer in this book. Dark Paradise, the first book in the Dark Paradise series, was good, but Dark Sacrifice was a full throttle thriller.

So, if you haven’t read Dark Paradise, then this review is not for you. A few things from the first book will be spoiled if you read any farther.

*************************Spoiler Alert ************************************

Dark Sacrifice picks up about where Dark Paradise left off. Mala’s still in the psych ward, soon to be released. And Landry’s in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. Mala’s still seeing ghosts, including her mother. And Landry has an overwhelming sense of guilt for putting Mala in danger; he’s willing to do anything to protect her. But Landry’s not sure he will be in Mala’s good graces if he ever gets out of jail.

And Mala still has a promise to keep to her Aunt Magnolia, one she knows may come at a price.

I don’t want to give too much away, but Angie Sandro takes us on an adventure packed with ghosts, curses, and magic as Mala tries to keep her promise to be trained by her dark magic loving aunt. Some pretty amazing stuff ensues.

If you enjoyed Dark Paradise then you will love Dark Sacrifice. It’s a face paced page turner. Let me know what you think. And if you're looking for book three, Dark Redemption is already available.

Dark Paradise by Angie Sandro ♥♥♥♥

20549455I have been looking forward to Dark Paradise by Angie Sandro for some time now. Since I started reading New Adult books a couple of years ago, I haven’t found many paranormal books, and I was excited at the prospect of a paranormal new adult books.

Dark Paradise tells the story of Mala, who finds a dead body in the swamp behind her house, and Landry, the brother to the dead girl. When the dead girl’s body is found, rumors start to circulate about Mala’s witchy family and her possible involvement in the girl’s death. Landry’s had a thing for Mala for years, but he can’t reconcile his feelings with the possibility that the girls of his dreams may have killed his sister. It doesn’t help that Landry’s dead sister is haunting them both.

Together, Landry and Mala, set out to find out who killed Landry’s sister. While at the same time trying to figure out their feelings for each other.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It took me some time to really get into it, but once I did, it was a whirlwind adventure. And at times a very frightening adventure. I can’t wait to read the next book, Dark Sacrifice. I want to know if Mala is going to really come into her powers, and how she will reconcile her feelings for Landry. Give the book a try; I’m so glad I did.  And let me know what you think.

DEADLY SECRETS

As they move closer to each other and closer to the truth, Mala and Landry must risk everything-their families, their love, and even their live

Check out an Excerpt:

Landry’s truck sits in the driveway when I stroll out of the house at a quarter to eight

in the morning. I’m in such a glorious mood that I don’t bother trying to sneak off without him

catching sight of me. It would’ve been easy, I learn upon climbing on the bumper and sticking

my head through the truck’s open window. He has the seat pushed back and his legs stretched

out kitty corner across the passenger seat. Snores, loud enough to scare a bear, echo through the

I reach in and poke his shoulder a few times. “Wake up, Sleeping Beauty.”

Landry’s thick lashes flutter then open to meet mine. “I’m supposed to be woken with a

kiss, not a jab.”

I snort. “I don’t kiss slimy critters. You’re playing double duty as a frog, and I throw

them in a frying pan with a little butter and garlic.”

“Oh, so now you’re trying to butter me up?”

The heat of a blush rises. “Saints, boy. You’re fraying my last nerve.” I plant my hands

on my hips, toe tapping. “What are you doing here? In case you forgot, I’m mad at you.”

“No you’re not.” He grins and runs his fingers through his thick hair. My breath catches

as my brain stutters. I shake my head to dispel the wave of pheromone-induced stupidity that

washes over me. My noses twitches. Why does he have to smell so good? Like cinnamon and

brown sugar. “Did you forget yester—”

An oily paper bag flies in my direction. I grab it out of the air before it drops to the

ground. It’s warm in my hands, and the smell makes my mouth water. “Ooh, cinnamon rolls,” I

mumble around the melting mouthful of cinnamon-y goodness. “I love these.”

“I know,” Landry says, throwing open the truck door.

I hop off the bumper with a scowl. The arrogant jerk thinks he has me eating out of

his hands; all he has to do is flutter those insanely long eyelashes, smile to show off his pearly

whites, and tempt me with fresh, warm buns.

“These are mine?” I clutch the bag to my chest as I eye him in suspicion.

“Yeah, they’re your favorite, right?”

“Mmm hmm.”

Landry props his elbow on the open window and ducks his head. Black hair tangles

across his face, hiding his eyes. “I hoped you’d be more accepting of my apology if I bribed you

with sweets. Forgive me for being an ass yesterday?”

Lucky guy. He figured out the fastest way to soften my heartstrings—sugar. Wait how

does he know they’re my favorite? Stupid question. It’s like him knowing my nickname and my

job. He pays way too much attention to me, and I’m kinda scared to ask why. I stare at my sticky

fingers, then lick the icing off one by one. Landry’s gaze draws my attention. He’s staring at my

mouth. My gut tightens in response, and I slowly lick my lips. Get a grip. Don’t trust him just

because he says he’s sorry.

I concentrate on the mouthful of cinnamon roll. Each chew echoes the rapid patter of my

heart. God, why does my body react like this when I’m around him? Why? He’s still staring at

me. Can’t he tell I’m uncomfortable? Oh, I get it. He’s irritating me on purpose so I can’t totally

ignore him.

I pass the empty bag to him. “You’re not going away, are you?”

“Nope.” He smiles.
