I bought this book on a whim, despite the cover (which made
the book seem as if it may be a little too steamy for me). But Sophie Jordan’s Foreplay was just what I needed after
reading a book I didn’t enjoy.
Pepper is a who knows what she wants, 2.5 kids, a great job
helping people, and her best friend’s brother, Hunter. And when Hunter finally
breaks up with his girlfriend of two years, Pepper and her friends decide
virgin Pepper may need a lesson or two on what guys want. The perfect role for
Reece, a local bartender with a bit of a (mistaken) reputation.
As Pepper grows closer to Reece, she finds out he’s not the
person she thought he was. She has to decide if she wants her dream guy or the
guy who actually makes her feel something. To me, the decision was always
clear.
The story has a lot of heart and emotion. Even as I was
frustrated with Pepper, I felt for the pain that was her past, and how that
affected her future decision making. Overall, I enjoyed the book, and I’m
looking forward to reading more of the series once it comes out.
